ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister of Commerce Dr Gohar Ejaz held a series of highly productive meetings with prominent Chinese business leaders and investment groups on the sidelines of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing.

These meetings were aimed at strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and China and exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan, according to a statement issued on Saturday.

Ejaz met China-Pakistan (Qingdao) International Cooperation Hub Director Wang Zihai, where discussions centered on investment opportunities in Pakistan, including the areas such as civilian and defence equipment, lithium batteries for electric vehicles, solar panels and semi-conductors.

The role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in facilitating investments was a key point of conversation.

In his meeting with Eman Logistics Chairperson Li Yiman, the focus was on expanding Pakistan’s presence on Chinese digital platforms.

Eman Logistics has planned to launch “Pakistan National Pavilion” display centres in China, demonstrating the commitment to digital diplomacy. The minister assured Li of full support and facilitation for the endeavour.

Ejaz also engaged in talks with leading Chinese agri-producer Wellhope President Jin Weidong. He highlighted the significant opportunities in Pakistan’s agricultural, poultry and meat sectors.

“Wellhope’s global leadership in smart farming and meat processing can pave the way for a mutually beneficial partnership,” the statement quoted the minister as saying.
